How Assessment & Certification works?
What is the Companies & Organisations Sustainable Standard?
When we set out to develop a sustainable standard for Companies & Organisations we wanted a system which would allow a company to compare itself to just about any other company in the UK.
In order to achieve this, the standard does not look at the service or product a company sells. This would lead to a very large and complex criteria. We have also not been able to model home-based companies within the Companies & Organisations Sustainable Standard (though we recommend home-based companies to use the Individual Standard instead).
The Companies & Organisations Sustainable Standard can be used for any business with its own premises. The Standard will look at the business’s operations, procedures and every day running.
How does the Companies & Organisations Sustainable Standard work?
The first step is to download the Sustainable Standard Spreadsheet at no cost. Using the spreadsheet you can assess your company over twelve areas of sustainable and ethical issues. If you need any help, then you can download the Guidance document (pdf file) and use it for reference or join us on the forum.
Further help will be required for the ‘Transport’ section to calculate the businesses Transport Miles, these two spreadsheets can be downloaded in the ‘Downloads’ page.
When you are happy with your Sustainable Standard, then we can help to promote your company/organisation. This will require evidence that you are undertaking everything in your standard and a small fee of £50 (+VAT) you can become certified. We recommend you contact us to discuss what we can offer.
