Central Heating Controls

Advice

If your central heating system is a little dated, then consider installing 'thermostatic radiator valves,' otherwise known as TRVs on your radiators. These valves control the amount of hot water moving through the radiator and therefore the amount of heat being emitted by the radiator.

This ideal to reduce heat output where it is not required as often i.e. bathroom, toilet, unused rooms, etc.

One radiator, usually is a hallway, is controlled by a room thermostat, which is set by the individual and then each TRV is set to work from the room thermostat. However as each room has its own characteristics the TRVs will also need to be individually set to suit these characteristics. It is all a lot easier than it sounds.

Other Sustainable Considerations

If you are worried about your child or perhaps a older relative, being susceptible to cold temperatures. Then you could invest in a 'cold alarms,' which will alert the occupant if the temperature is below the required level.
