Advice

Energy efficient lighting is a great and easy way of reducing the amount of energy your dwelling consumes. It uses around a fifth of the energy a standard bulb uses.
The first thing you'll notice about energy efficient light bulbs is that they cost more to buy than the standard bulbs. However don't let this put you off as it has been proven that each energy efficient light bulb will save around £30 to £50 over its lifetime.
It might be worth buying one at a time as this will spread the cost and give you a chance to see if you're happy with the light they give off.
The other advantage of energy efficient light bulbs is that they last between 5 and 15 times longer than the standard bulb. This means that you don't have to worry about changing bulbs very often.
When you first switch on your energy efficient light, you will notice that the light doesn't seem very bright. Another few minutes and the light will be as good, if not better, than the light from your old standard light bulb.
Other sustainable considerations:
Energy efficient light bulbs can be easily recycled back into energy efficient light bulbs. The only place that I know collects them is IKEA, who also sells them.
