Fairtrade Fruit Juice

Advice

Currently there isn't a huge range of fairtrade fruit juices available in the supermarkets, though with your help that might change in the future.

Most of the fairtrade fruit juices centre on fresh orange juice from either Brazil or Cuba. If you want to know more about the destinations that these juices come from, then why not head over to the Fairtrade Foundation website (Link on the right), which provides a huge amount of information on products, suppliers, growers, news and much more.

The price difference between the 'no frills' (supermarkets own brand) fruit juices and fairtrade counterparts can be quite considerable. However we are agreed at Sustainable UK Limited that the taste and quality difference is definitely in favour of the fairtrade products. Tesco has its own brand of fairtrade orange juice which is cheaper than other brands of fairtrade fresh orange juice.

Other Sustainable Considerations

Did you know that one 250ml drink of fruit juice counts as one of the 5 portions of fruit and vegetables we should all aim to consume each day. However you should also note that you will receive no additional benefit from having any more than one lot of 250ml fruit juice in anyone day*

Did you think milk and juice cartons were impossible to recycle? The answer is provided by the 'Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment' on 020 8977 6116. Phone for Freepost stickers so you can send flattened, and rinsed, cartons for processing.
