Modern cotton nappies are a real alternative to disposable nappies as they cost roughly the same and are nearly as convenient.
There are a growing number of retailers and laundry services available and they can be found at the 'UK Nappy Line' website (see 'links' on the right).
The initial cost can be a bit steep, however check out your local authority or environmental not-for-profit company/organisation for incentives. They might offer some kind of financial incentive or a starter pack.
It is possible to clean the nappies in your own home, but a proper laundry service can do it with less environmental impact and it is also less hassle for yourself.
