Your reliance on plastic bags can be reduced by any of the following actions:
1. When you have finished with the plastic bags why not put them aside and use them again when you next visit the shops.
2. Purchase the stronger plastic bags (bag for life) that can be found in most supermarkets and use them each visit. Remember that some stores allow you to replace their bags for free.
3. Purchase material bags that are designed to last for years.
Other Sustainable considerations:
The same bags can be used to carry your recycling to the supermarket allowing you to carry out two tasks in one go.
Bags made from jute, an environmentally-friendly fibre can be purchased. They will last years and at the end of their life they will safely biodegrade.
