Taps

Advice

There are three methods of reducing the amount of water coming out of your domestic taps:

Firstly, Spray Fittings work by providing a fine spray which uses significantly less water. Down to around 1.5-litres from around 10-litres per minute for a normal tap.

Secondly, an aerating fitting can be installed within normal taps in order to replcase some of the water-flow with oxygen - saving water, but providing a sufficient flow for all your needs.

The third method is to use a flow-restrictor to the plumbing fo the taps. This flow restrictor could have a maximum of 5-litres per minute, effectively halving the amount of water used.

The fourth method is to use a specialised water-saving tap, such as those sold by the Green Building Store (see link on right)

Other sustainable considerations

When brushing your teeth, only turn the tap on for when the water is required and NOT the entire length of time you brush your teeth.
